Yes
I'm looking at buying a secondhand 450d and was wondering if there is much difference between the IS and non IS 18-55 lens? (apart from image stabalisation :p) Or would also be interested in any similar lens for the same sort of money.

IS version is completely different optical design, and much better. Did you know that it also has IS? ;)

It's really quite good. You will not find anything better for anything like the price.

Edit: IS version came in with the 450D I think.

:agree:

It really is much better than the standard 18-55 lens! I really didn't believe the hype until I bought one. VERY pleased with mine, go for it, well worth the ackers!!

Both these are taken with the same kit lens , but NON is .

Very nice, but it would be much more useful if you could provide 100% crops from the images to show how sharp they are.
