Hi All,

I have never used an extender, and was wondering if the purchase was worth it....

An EF 1.4 x II goes for around £200 secondhand, and an EF 1.4 x for £100

So my question is....in real world everyday use, what is the major differences??

waterproofing...

ok.....

Anymore? AF Speed, IQ, etc?

All L lenses will be used with, 70-300 F2.8 IS mainly i would think, but may get a 100-400 too, i know not really fast enough to get decent use from it though

Also now thinking about using it on 100 F2.8 IS L Macro

I would go for a x1.4 II

I love mine and with a little patience you will find one for under £150.

Not sure on difference on pic quality but use mine quite a lot:)

I was told the only difference is waterproofing. the optics are identical.
The mkIII released just a few weeks ago is a more significant update.

Your lenses would benefit from extra seals, it that is important. Unfortunately, 100mm L or non-L is not compatible with Canon converters.

Thanks for the info guys, shame about the 100mm though, sure i can find a use for it though on days dont want to carry the 400mm
