What a stunning sunset tonight. Did anybody get shots of it? I was in the car at the time getting a lift and didn't have my camera. Here's one taken with the iPhone.

I watched it from the window at home and wondered if anyone was lucky enough to be in even a remotely photogenic spot to capture it!!.

Lucky beggars if they were :p

Yes hopefully somebody will have it on 'film'. It was pretty spectacular with the wisps of clouds and the deep deep oranges and reds. Well gutted I want somewhere scenic with the camera

No did not see it. Just asked the missus, she said she saw a bit of it. She said she did not tell me, as I was busy. Busy messing with my cameras.

It looked lovely here in south Cheshire: golden, salmon pink, orange, yellow, all reflecting off small, darkish-grey, broken clouds that looked like a cobbled street pulled apart... but unfortunately I was in one of the flat, built-up areas at the time so couldn't get any shots of it for house roofs, lack of visible horizon, etc. and I wouldn't have had time to drive to a better vantage point before it had gone. I hope someone managed some shots that can do it justice.

Lots of pictures like your from peeps windows on the Instagrams.

Nobody got a proper shot with their DSLR?

I went into the kitchen and saw through the window what was obviously the last remnants of what had been a great sunset. So didn't even see it, never mind shoot it. Kicked myself. :(

If only we could all get prior warning of at least a week :-)

Here it's grey and overcast. So no chance of a repeat of lastnight's spectacular sky show in this part of the country anyway :-(

Well, you can get prior warning of a few days.

Have a look at sunsetwx.com which has predictions for how colourful the sunrise / sunset will be. Make sure you look at the map that is valid for the time of local sunset where you are though - it can be a bit tricky to work out until you get the hang of it.

It's currently saying that Friday might have some colourful sunsets across most of the UK.

No way!!

Yes sorry. I meant - didn't think this was possible - and thanks for sharing.

Weather forecasting is easy... remember the 'Barbecue Summer', followed by the one around this time last year for the 'coldest and snowiest winter for years'? It's getting the forecast right that appears to be the difficult bit! ;)

And apparently it was right, judging from the images they've just shown on the BBC1 weather forecast.

*puts on his best 'Frazer from Dad's Army' voice* Of course, I never doubted them for a minute.

Has anyone seen my snow-shoes and charcoal?

Joking aside, I didn't think tonight's sunset looked as good as the one the other night round here.

Sunsets nowadays, not a patch on the sunsets from my youth.

I could tell a story or two about the sunsets I've seen in my lif...................................
