I have two stickers to attach to the rear doors of my car, is there a cheap way to dewax the paintwork without going to the expense of buying the proper dewaxing agent as they are very small.

No I am not a born again boy racer :D

washing up liquid and a brillo pad? Usually does the job :)

I am joking btw :p

go to halfords and get some tar and glue remover

:)

Why "dewax" the paintwork ?

Just make sure the surface is clean and dry and stick em on !

Just wipe the door with a dry rag, and then stick them on, giving them a good rub to make sure they're stuck.

They say the surface has to be spotless etc, it's balls tbh mate, so long as it's not full of dust and mud you'll be fine.

Some IPA from the chemist, mix 50/50 with distiled water, makes a great panel wipe ;)

if you don't mind spending £15 your best option is a meguires quick detailing kit from halfords.

You use a clay bar to remove all surface grime and dirt, takes the paint back to the lacquer. You must re wax car afterwards *** as it removes all polish/wax and leaves your paintwork unprotected.

Sorry folks, I forgot that I had posted this :cuckoo:

Well the instructions state it must be dewaxed first and seeing as I have never stuck them on before I think it is best to follow their advice. The temperature must also be between 60 and 80 degrees F.

Ta for the responses, but I bumped into someone I knew who works in a bodyshop and he just said give it a good wipe with a rag dampened it petrol, then give it a good rub with a dry bit of tissue.

Go faster stripes stripes now firmly stuck down :D

DF keep a lookout, as the next pics I post will be of my car in the current thread, worth only £1600 trade in according to Glass's guide but worth a lot lot more to me in it's minty condition.
