Hi All,

Be gentle with me, this is my 1st post.

Well, first of all, hello to everyone on the forum. I've been checking out some of the pics on here for the last hour or so and I am green with envy and can only dream about taking these sorts of pics at present.

I have recently become interested in photography after spending a lot of time outdoors in the Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire Coast over the last year of so and seemed have a bit of eye for a picture (or at least that's what everyone around me kept on saying), so decided to pursue it and see where it took me. I'm currently studying for a diploma in photography but finding it incredibly hard and technically very difficult and definitely having more than a little trouble putting it into practice!!! Getting very very frustrated and despondant with it.

The camera I have at present is an Olympus E-300 with a 14-45mm and 40-150mm lenses, not that any of it makes sense to me at the moment!!

Anyway, looking forward to all the advice, tips, help, etc that I can pick up from this forum.

Anna Elise

hello and welcome, just reading what you have to say about yourself and can say "we are all still learing" imo, i would like to think this forum would give you just about everthing you need , so sit back , relax and enjoy

Have to agree with Malevo, great place to learn. Ask questions and someone will give you the answer, I learned more on here in the first 2 months of joining than I did from the previous 12 months of reading books. Friendly, helpful and may I say, devilishly handsome thats what this forum is.

You're most welcome here, now get some pictures posted so we can help you as much as you want.

Tell us what you like taking pictures of and what kind of improvements you feel you'd like to make.

You must be a photographer! welcome

Hi All

Thanks, one and all, for your warm welcome - hopefully my despondancy and frustration will lessen now that I have found this forum and can pick the brains of the experienced experts.

I don't really have a fav subject to photograph at the moment (been new to it, have yet to find my niche, so to speak) but spend a lot of time outdoors, so landscapes, particularly coastal and waterfalls/water. Also like capturing the special/fun/natural moments with family and friends, particulary in black and white. Love food, travel and flowers too - so really a bit of a mixed bag!!

Attached are a couple of pics I have taken in the past on my 'point and press' - would welcome your thoughts and opinions.....be nice :-)))

Pic#1 - my father and my niece sharing one of her many mischevious moments!!

Pic#2 - Henrhyd Waterfall

Pic#3 - Dead Tree on the way to Hatterhill (I was buggered by the time I got to the top!)

Pic#4 - Misty Early Morning Reservoir

I have already posted these elsewhere on the forum, so please forgive me, if you have already seen them....

Welcome.

I very much like No 3. Perhaps a little too much contrast with the lighter parts on the tree standing out a little too much.

One of those pictures, though, where my immediate reaction was "I like that"

Keep on shooting.

Hi Anna,

Welcome! I'm a beginner too and I think your photos are great - better than mine so far!! :)

Hello Anna and welcome,

I like your 4th picture. Landscape photographs can look great in black and white so carry on and enjoy your photography.

Hi Anna, looking at you pics may be it's because you are a natural that you get frustrate by the straight jacket of rules. I would take on what you are being taught but don't let it constrain you.
If you see something you like take it as you want to and you will probably have better images as a result.
