Desktop giving up, need a laptop.

So the desktop won't connect to the Internet ( writing this from the wife's iPad ) I will still use it for photo editing but have decided to get a laptop for just surfing the net and iTunes. All my photos will be stored on hard drives. Don't want to spend more than £350-400 max. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Something with an i3-2xxx or i3-3xxx processor (I think the i5s will be out of that price range). As much memory as you can afford.
 
Go on then I'll ask the obvious questions....

Why wont it connect to the internet?

What happens when you try?

Any error messages?
 
Well thanks for the replies it just kept saying Aol not connected to internet and on settings it showed disconected. Every time I made the computer search for the connection it said that it did have one though.

However I now have been out and bought a wifi dongle and after faffing around blindly I have managed to get it to connect wirelessly and it seems faster too.

Will still look into a laptop though so the rest of the family can use that and I can have the desktop for processing. Thanks
 
I presume it was connected to the router via a cable before?

If it was worth checking trying another cable or it may be that the ethernet connection gas died. Depending on the PC you may be able to get a new pci ethernet.

If you still need a laptop have a look under the classified for a cheap one.
