Any bank type peeps help me here?

My father wants to pay some cash into my son's bank account while he is at university.

My father doesnt bank with the same bank as my son and he cannot get to a branch of my son's bank or even a branch of his own bank.

Is he able to take cash into a completely diffferent bank altogether with a paying-in slip with my son's account name, sort code and account no. etc on.. and pay it in there?

So if dad is with barclays and son is with hsbc.............dad can go and do that in Lloyds or wherever, no fee?

As far as I know you can do it Janice but if the bank is neither your fathers nor your son's they might well charge a fee.

You could have done it at the post office but now I think they only do it using debit cards rather than payingin slips.

Does he have internet banking? You can do transfers with just the sort code and account number without having to leave home! :)

No.. I do it that way.. but at 84 he is a cash only man!! :D

Thanks anyway.

Have you or your father tried ringing either bank and asking their advice?...........if you can actually speak to a real person.

If you can do it it won't be free unless it's your own bank. Can he deposit the money with you for you to put into your sons account?
