Hi everyone,

I thought I'd ask this question here as I know a few will probably own this screen or another hi-end display.

Basically, I purchased a brand new U3014 in July. On-Screen display was hit or miss as to if would work, random horizontal lines would occur across the screen until it warmed up and occasionally it would just display some random patterns until it was switched off/on a few times. I lived with it until this week when I was off work to arrange a replacement.

Called Dell, told a replacement will be sent and to package my monitor up in the original box (or if I didn't have that use the one supplied). Naturally, I kept hold of the box, so put all the protective packaging on the monitor, cables in the bags, along with the colour calibration/user documentation - still unopened in the packaging.

Today, UPS man turns up, with a box larger than the supplied one (I figured they double packed the monitor box). Signs for it, he takes mine away, happy days.

Open the box and discover, some packaging around a monitor within just a plastic bag and a not stuck to the screen saying no cables are included.

Do I have rights to reject this? As far as I'm concerned, resale value down the line has dropped due to the lack of original packaging, manual, colour cert, cables etc.

How would you proceed with this.

I'm going to send them a e-mail but knowing my rights would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Sent Dell an e-mail and just received a phone call. They will be sending a brand new boxed monitor to me next Wednesday.

On the basis they did not explain the replacement would be refurbed or to keep the original packaging for the monitor.

Happy ending after all... :)

Nice to hear some good service

from what ive been told in the past warranty replacements do not need to be brand new and can be refurbs (check the warranty terms). had this exact issue with Netgear when they shipped me a replacement NAS that looked like it had been through a blender..

When they called he did state I should have been told it would be a refurb'd screen as it was 4 months old and to retain all packaging.

He spoke with his manager/supervisor explaining my situation and offered this one-time replacement with a new boxed display. Fingers crossed this one will be perfect!

This one is actually in as-new condition (after cleaning the screen) and is working perfect but without the box, colour calibration spec, etc, it's not ideal.

Thumbs up for Dell (in the end).
