Deleting photos

Hi, I am currently using elements 10 through an IMac, and Wd my book as external hard drive. Now that all my images are on the my book .can I delete all the photos on the IMac? Apologies for what seems like a straight forward question I am not that good on computers. Kind regards mike

Before doing that I would get a second hard drive as an extra back up. Hard drives can and do fail. Then when you have at least 2 copies you can delete off the mac.
