While I was idly surfing the interweb this morning I stumbled across this, Loupedeck. Basically a dedicated Lightroom input device to speed up workflow. Being a 10th Dan gadget monkey I thought I've got to have one of those until I see the price, €369. Nope, I'm out...

Not to be deterred I started to search to see if there was any cheaper alternatives and I stumbled across a load of options which used low cost Midi controllers instead. The one that caught my eye the most was this, a Behringer X-Touch Mini for £61. This guy has a pretty good tutorial about how to set it up and use it with Lightroom. I couldn't help but take a punt.

Does anyone else use anything similar? I'd love to know.

It's quite a common hack, there's a thread somewhere (probably in the business section).

I use a midi controller, and if I'm totally honest, I'd buy a smaller one next time, whilst it's possible to allocate 48 knobs, I don't use that many that often.

I had a look at the Novation but what put me off was that the potentiometers were absolute and there value would be applied to each image as you stepped through them.
I think it depends on the software.
The way I use it there's no change made till you move a control. (at which point it jumps to that point).

I use Midi 2 LR. it's public domain, hassle free.
