I am not quite clear on what you end up with.Is it a 5D3 +24-105 or a 6D+16-35 + 24-105
If its the latter do you need f2.8?, if not could you run to a 5D3+17-40?
May be worth remembering that the 24mm on full frame will be the same as a 15mm on the crop body
I was faced with a similar situation, I chose the 53d-------One of the better decisions I have made, its a wonderful piece of equipmentAs the title says..
Do i splash out on a 5d3 and stick with my 24-105L?
or
Do i buy a 6D and 16-35L?
HELP!
I currently shoot with a 60d, People, Lanscapes, Lots of night time stuff. Been asked to do a few weddings next year for friends etc.
I dont really need the 2.8
As others have said unless you shoot fast moving subjects and use all the AF points. If you only use the centre AF point then the 6D may be the better option. By all accounts the high ISO performance is better, also the low light focusing is better (using the centre AF point).
With reference to the weddings and low light, you may want to think about this. At a recent wedding, I was shooting at f/2.8 ISO 1600 and was getting shutter speeds of 1/8, 1/16. I ended up bumping up the ISO or using a speedlight just to get the shots and even then some were blurred.
I did. And your point is?Your EXIF says you use a 60D for the weddings shots on flickr?
Poor IQ? I'm pretty sure your 6D was broken.MKIII would be my choice, bought and returned a 6D less than impressed, maybe I had a dodgy sample, but won't be trying again
Minor point, but apart from the poor IQ didn't like the control pad/wheel that replaces the larger wheel and joystick arrangement
I got it for the same reasons. In my experience the AF is fine for most things that move. If you're into shooting birds or footballers then presumably the 5DIII is the better bet, otherwise the 6D is good. That centre point could lock onto a blackbird in a coal mine (lens permitting).I had the same choice and bought a 6D. Allegedly better sensor, great high ISO and lighter. I didn't need the AF though as I don't tend to shoot things that move. Your needs may differ.
The sigma i have is designed for a crop body, and it a true 10-20mm? correct me if im wrong..
I think we established there was something very wrong with the 6d you had!MKIII would be my choice, bought and returned a 6D less than impressed, maybe I had a dodgy sample, but won't be trying again

Just you made a point about f2.8 and ISO. But on a crop sensor. On a ff sensor especially the 6d and 5d3 the low light capabilities are much better than on a 60d.
(I have one, I wouldn't be upgrading otherwise)

Fair point and yes it did seem to be a duff sample.
Kind of pleased it was, as I mentioned earlier didn't find the wheel/pad easy to use and was a bit surprised just how plasticky the 6D body appeared to be (apparently top plate has to be for wi-fi reasons)
In the end picked up a used MKII for approx half the price of a 6D and my next upgrade would definitely be the MKIII
