deciding what res to upload photos

As we all know tech is changing all the time. Along with this, monitors are having higher and higher resolutions.

i have just downloaded and started to use pixelpost which i really like at the moment.

my question issssssssssssssssssssssss:

whats the best resolution to upload your photos in? We all hate scrolling up and down on website. So whats your photo res?

Well to avoid horizontal scrolling, I'd say not more than 950px wide.
That puts a landscape image at about 630 pixels wide.

In my opinion that's still a little too large and the file size at a decent quality will be about 250k.

I'd be tempted to go with something like 800x533 and set a .jpg quality to make the image about 100k.

Of course, for a page with lots of images, that might be too big......in other words, there's no hard and fast rule.
