Dead Moles . . . .

I seem to be seeing loads lately.

32 years and not one, then 4 come along all at once. Saw a live one too, but only briefly before he popped back down his hole.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you !!

I have seen 4 dead moles and a live one in the space of a week.

I guess thats why I am not getting too many mole jobs at the moment

i used to have a lawn till they started ,now i have a ploughed field . 8 years battling them & still they are winning:annoyed:

i have been told the only time they come out the ground is when they're dying, dont know how true it is.

I wish a strain of something like rabbit mixematosis would come along and wipe them all out. I can spread the mounds of soil they create but the real damage is done underground when the runs subside.
I once caught a mole by the leg in a trap and did not have the heart to kill it so I let it go a few mile away, I was amazed by the speed it could dig and it literally dug it's way to safety in seconds.

yes i'd totally agree with you on that ,i recently dug 1 up as it created yet another mole hill and like you say theyr'e quick ,straight back in the soil digging away frantically .

Was at a farm museum once and there was a collection of mole traps, as well the different traps there were some gruesome weapons that you used to stab them with as they neared the surface of the mound.

Now highly illegal.
The best mole trap on the market at the moment the "Talpex" not the cheapest, but
ever since I switched to these last year, I have had a 100% success rate
as opposed to about 75% make sure you get the genuine Dutch, I believe, not the copies.
I think they retail at about a tenner.
