Im gonna jump in with this I think. Meant to do it last year but workload dictated otherwise. Im also going to have to play catchup from week 1, and because of my shifts I may miss the odd week, but I'm certainly going to give it a whirl.

Thanks Lynne. It is highly likely that my 52 will have a heavy bias towards railways
Those of you that hate trains might want to look away ;)

Week 2: New

I could probably have given this a lot more thought, but im playing catchup here so I shot the first thing that came to me.

My 'new' 5D, shot with the wifes sparkly new 60mm f2.8 macro. I've never used a macro lens before. This weeks lesson: Macro lenses are REALLY finnicky with focusing! It took me about a dozen shots to get this right

So week 3 is style huh. Hmm. If there is one thing I dont have, its style. I am regularly arrested by the fashion police

This could take some thinking about. For what its worth, I am actually trying to do this from 8 weeks behind, without looking at other folks threads for inspiration.

Ok here goes....week 3 : Style

The only thing in my life that I could consider even vaguely stylish, is my motor....so here it is. Had a bit of a sunshine break here an hour ago, so it seemed like a good opportunity to play with the new 17-40.

Todays lesson: Taking photos of a car that is facing straight into the sun is nigh on impossible. I have half a dozen of these with my shadow in, before I got it right

Week 4: Open
Damn...this was a tougher one to edit than it was to shoot. Since im STILL 7 or 8 weeks behind everyone else, I had a bit of a trip to Kenilworth Castle today to see if I could fill in at least a few of my missing weeks.

As it turned out, I did...including the next on the list, 'open'.

I ended up with a choice of about 8 shots for this. I also learnt (having not had my 17-40 for very long) that converging verticals are a REAL problem at 17mm, especially on full frame! Moreso, they are a nightmare to edit...

I have played with this a dozen times, before I got it somewhere I was happy with it. Specifically, the straightening. How exactly do you define 'straight' when theres no horizon as such, and everything diverges. Eventually I elected to set it to 'straight' from the lower of the two visible rooflines. If nothing else, it will certainly make me take this into account in future...which is, i guess, the whole point
