Dating a Lens

No, i don't mean dinner then the movies with flowers and chocolates etc..

I want to know how old my lens is, can i tell from the serial number?

It's a Nikon Micro Nikkor 105mm

Yes and no. You can't date it to the exact month like you can a Canon "L" lens, but here is an amazing resource which should help you work out which of the various incarnations of this lens you have and therefore roughly how old it is.
