I am going for mine this yr.... Quietly confident :)
 
Kipax, I've heard Dataco mentioned before with regard to footy and what not - is this an association that basically holds the rights to images?

Thats about it yes.. for premiership, championship and league football.
 
I got my card through the other day! Not independently of course..
 
As we know the non league scene is not covered by DataCo but what about the FA Cup? I done my local team today in FA Cup Extra Prelim Round. Can I put them up online?

As far as I know, it's the league teams and league grounds that are covered by DataCo, so any FA Cup in non-league grounds would be fine (subject to any accreditation limits placed upon the team in question by it's own league)

AFAIK yes.. Gonna look into that when i get it... target 6 mths... need 15 pics published from football action. invoices, reciepts and paper cutting in regional or national papers... i am going for regional... I get 15 a week published but they are accy stanley and i cant use them because they where taken under papers licence.. so gotta go other routes... I am confident :)
 
Thats the whole problem with the system, you can't shoot football that will get published without accreditation and you can't get accreditation without your own images shot under your own accreditation not a papers or agency being published in the press. i know they have to have some rules for it but some part has got to give, your not going to get published shooting sunday league every week as it isn't in the interest of the paper.

I wonder if the guy doing the cartoons of southampton games will be able to use those?
 
Does 15 get you a premiership licence? Thought it was 30 for prem and 15 for everything below that?

Nope 15 dont get you a premiership... But then I dont want a premieship licence.. No use for one..

Yes 30 for Prem League. If I overheard correctly, there was a clause in this years contract that at least 15 of those should be from Wembley :eek: It was removed though!
 
and by all counts.. league/nonleague papers cant be used towards a licence.
 
Sorry about the edits, I posted before saying I would shoot the reebok for Kipax if he decided to go for premiership acreditation. This may have been misunderstood, I would only do this on an official capacity working for Kipax should he have a licence. I'm not stupid enough to do somthing that would cause problems and isn't allowed.

I have always said catch 22... But it obviously can be done as there are plenty of people wiht a league licence and more being added each season.. I have seen the lists.

This weekend I emailed dataco to make sure the publications I will be supplying are going to satisfy the requirements.. presuming I get the nod then its all systems go..
 
Well i made a start.. shot Altrincham v Darlington tonight.. commision off northern echo and also got a match fee of M.E.N. The two used in Northern echo (they said going to use 2) will go towards the licence but the ones used by men will be in more local papers so prob not .... still waiitng for derek at dataco to confirm that...

its a start.. 2 down 13 to go :)
 
This is is what makes it even more difficult. The non league, blue square, evo stick etc have little interest for the regional or national press unless it is some sort of final, only local press would post images from their local teams involved.

I can't think of any job more difficult to get in to.

Good luck with it Kipax, go for 30 images ;)

I always understood it to be 30 published from Football League games will get you the Premier League Licence. Which is even more difficult as you've got a lot of competition at Football League level

15 gets me a league licence..

I can then get 30 league pics published in a month to get a prem licence.. No contest easy peasy.. however I probably wouldnt even put in for a prem licence. no use for it.. I ahve a captured audience and guaranteed sales for league.. nothing but shoot and hope for prem..
