Ready to start...

I'm with you Allan, I always like that pop of colour against dull and dark. The bright yellow really catches the eye as does the blue sky
there's something about the contrast between the drab urban buildings and the splash of colour that appeals to me.
LOL, just cause you like bananas...Yeah the yellow through the window pops! That’s the shot for sure!![]()
Thanks Pete, one of the first shots I took on the day. I was lucky that one of the trains stopped and this guy was running to catch a connector.A fine set to start off the year Bill. I like the light on the railway platform and the lines of the floor tiles. The unknown person who looks like he's in a hurry adds to the shot.
Actually I was choosing between the shot that I chose and the guy running across the skytrain station...I liked the colour of the yellow one but didn't think that there was enough story to the shot.Love the one you used, the guy from the bus really makes it. Really like the yellow one to, the 'pop' of the colour along with the angled receding of the light works really nice. I imagine it was a tough choice!
Thanks Adam.I like the chosen image with the gent looking through the gate / fence / barrier. I also like the pop from the yellow in the other image you took.
Thanks Paul, I walked that road a lot but I've never come across one of the security gates open like that.Once again, a great set Bill. Any of them would have made a good choice. Your actual selection is different - looking out at someone looking in. I instinctively wonder what is going on. Excellent.
Thanks Tim, to be honest I knew that I'd captured his head when I took that shot but it wasn't until I got home that I saw he was looking right at me (he was probably wondering what the hell I was doing...)The chinatown shot really caught my eye, but the reflections take something away from it.
So I'm with quite a few of the others here with prefering the yellow one.
I do like that you've captured the chap looking at you in the street shot you chose though![]()
Thanks Simon!Great set for the theme Bill. I like the yellow shot, but your chosen one is great, especially with the bloke giving you the eye!
Thanks Keith, I thought about adding it as my tech shot but thought that I'd find something better with one of the next themes.Great start to the year Bill, like your chosen shot- could add framed with the fellas face in picture. Like the yellow with the angles of course,
Thanks Wayne, that's from the tinted glass enclosing the station. All work for me Bill, but then again they always do. Like the blue light in the distance on the first shot
Thanks Kell, yeah, I thought about doing that when I got it into post but didn't like the result. Wish I had thought of it at the time of shooting....Lovely set here.
I'm also drawn to the yellow pop of colour image, as well as the last one of the building and sky. Though I think I would have looked to make an even more extreme crop to get the edge of the building on the diagonal from top corner to bottom.
Thanks Alan.I'd have gone with your chosen shot, some real interest with the "scooter-ist"

Thanks Adam! That’s a great shot and you tick the framing off also. Nice one.
LOL, loons are ubiquitous around here Keith.Well framed Bill, see you have the UK sky there. Had to look up loons, really like the remains of the pier
Yeah, I thought about that Tim and played with a more aggressive crop but ultimately settled on keeping the black space in...I really like your chosen image.
I may have cropped off some of the negative space at the top though, but that's a personal choice.
Thanks Pete!I like the one you've chosen Bill and the dark surrounding really emphasises the decay.
Thank you Paul!A great set, and your chosen one: tick, tick and tick.
Thanks Bob, I guess "lighthouse" is a little bit of liberty as that maybe implies the ability to enter the structure. This is more of mini-lighthouse, maybe 12-15 feet tall.Interesting location and framing technique done! I’m glad you said it is a lighthouse, I thought it probably was but wasn’t sure! I’d have been tempted to light the tunnel or lift the shadows slightly to show a bit more texture- but I’m currently looking on a phone so I might be wrong!
Thanks Allan!Your chosen shot has a daunting feel to it, I like it.
Thank you Nick, I almost didn't see this shot. There's no ambiguity to the framing there! I like the bleakness and the negative space from the arch.
Thanks Kell, I appreciate it!I know you were going for the framing anyway, but I think it's a great shot.
Thank you Simon!Great set of pictures there, and the framing for your chosen shot is spot on!
Thanks Alan!I do like the composition of the chosen shot

Thanks Jak.Great set![]()
I looked as this thread first Bill before I saw your your entry. I would not have guessed that was the one. My fault for not giving due time to the photo's. Your selection is very nice, how long did you wait for the orange truck, I bet it just popped up there right away, ha ha, Brilliant. Thanks Wayne, high praise!
Is it better to be a lucky photographer or a good one.LOL, all luck. It was one of the last shots I took at Granville Island. I find a lot of times that it's either one of the very first shots I take or one of the very last ones that stands out for me.
When I looked at them all I could think about was Homer Simpson...aaaaahhhh...doughnuts...gaaahhh...
