Yes
We have had 3 of 4 Ford Pumas so far.
Early in the summer our local dealer offered us a good deal on a facelift Puma.

So we had one of the stock models of if they had.

We noticed almost straight away there was an issue with the hybrid system and it went back in to be looked at.

The dealer could not fix it and it was taken back the the Ford technical centre not far from us.
Worked out the issue, but did not have a fix for it.

We rejected that one and factory ordered a new one.

Fast forward to yesterday when it was being delivered to the dealer and as they drove it off the transporter, they noticed the power steering wasn’t working.
Apparently another known issue and the dealer are having trouble getting parts for it.

We are just going to leave it with them for now as Ford have been paying for us to have a hire car since we had the issue with the first one and we are saving the monthly payment as well.

My bold

As long as it is a decent hire car the longer it takes to sort the better I would think

just buy a nice EV like a Tesla model 3

That’s what we are thinking, saving us at least £300 a month whilst we have it

It’s not good that 2 new cars in a row have major issues that they are having trouble fixing
I would look at anothe car maker

Friend of ours bought a brand new Mercedes A200, it has been back and forth to the dealer ever since she picked it up! Fault after fault after fault.

Surprised she hasn’t rejected it. :$

Thankfully I've never experienced these problems despite having two LR Discoveries from new! My Mazda's (MX5, 6, 6) have never put a foot wrong.
Not crowing though, I sympathise greatly, it must be lots of hassle

We have been looking over the weekend just in case. My son gets Ford discount, which makes a lot of difference.
Puma's are the perfect size for just me and the OH, which is a shame, as he can currently get us a fantasic deal on a new hybrid Kuga.

Just remembered there was an issue last time we swapped as well, not a fault as such, just a cock up in the factory.

They sent 300 special edition Puma's to the UK missing the MHEV system ( apparently other countires can have it without ).
Ford had to get them recertified in the UK before they could sell them. Luckily they got us into a higher spec stock Puma that
time, wish we had kept it now.

Can't even go for the same spec we had before 2nd hand as the APR is much higher, will cost about £40-50 a month more than a new one.

Ahh I see that makes sense if you can get a discount :)

My most spectacular broken car was a brand new Peugeot 306.

On its second Friday return journey, from London to Devon, I was about ten miles from home when there was a tremendous bang and I had no power. Luckily, there was a turning just a few yards ahead and I coasted into the splay. Two week old contract hire car? I called the AA number, prominently displayed at the top of the windscreen. A friendly chap in a big van appeared quite quickly. "Could you open the bonnet? Thank you", then silence. I stood beside him and saw what he had: a large hole in the side of the casing, where the number one cylinder had been...

They replaced it, after some persuasion, with another 306, which I ran without any trouble (apart from the front brake assemblies falling off on the M3, but that's another story) to the end of the three year contract. I bought and used it for a further three years, again trouble free.

The 1st one that was rejected sounded like it was a really stupid programming error, something like this we were told.

If you unlocked the car and got in, but then did not start the car straight away.
The MHEV system disengaged.
The software was written that pressing the clutch reengaged it.
You guessed it we had an automatic.

I'm trying to think of something witty to say involving a horseshoe lol

Well apparently it’s had a total MHEV system failure.
It’s automatically blown two of the main modules, which it is set to do to avoid fires.
Of course there is no eta for the modules and I really don’t want another car which has been fixed for MHEV issues.
One of the senior techs from Ford Dunton tech centre actually got an alert from the car at the weekend and went down to see it today.
Worrying that he has alerts set for this particular issue

My neighbour as an A200 and I was shocked when, after he purchased it, he said they have a terrible reliability rating. We nearly bought a Puma ST last January, but decided against it after a bit of research. That 3 pot engine is not particularly good. By BiL has a Puma and his power steering failed, took them 5 weeks to get the parts. So glad we went with the Q2 now.

One of my mate's has a Ford Edge, which I considered myself at one point as I quite liked the look of it and you barely feel the potholes (apparently it's well known for its suspension). But he did have to had the steering rack replaced quite early on, under warranty I think, and apparently it was quite common. It's still a nice place to sit though.

I suppose most cars have their inherent problems to be ironed out.
