I'm home alone for nearly 3 weeks next month. I'm thinking about using my 35mm lens and filters in the Dales and Lake District. But I'm unsure where to go.

Looking for dramatic/gorgeous scenes.

Any suggestions?

If you want to stay in the Lakes then Keswick is the obvious answer. Plenty of hotels etc and plenty of pubs. Being Spring it'll be busy so book soon.

You're then handy for most of the Lakes in either direction and also a good road link across to the Dales.

I won't be staying anywhere. Takes me about 2 hours to reach Ambleside, and I'm just 7 miles from the Dales.

I'll probably go to Ambleside and walk another direction up to Loughrigg Fell.

If it was me, I'd just wander at random and hunt out my own stuff in terms of images. But then I'm a stubborn old fart & that's not always a recipe for success. But then again, what's success?

Just do it your way & enjoy the adventure. You don't even have to take photographs to validate that. It's an experience.

Whitbarrow Scar is worth a visit,

limestone pavement
twisted trees
estuary views over to arnside

first 20 minutes is a bit steep but once up its flatish, come down by the school and the river walk to car park is ok.

Whitbarrow Scar is worth a visit,
Yeah, & refreshingly off-piste as regards tourist hotspots & crowds compared to the central Lakes. Once up there though you can see the Lakes fells in the distance off to the north as references ...[weather permitting - thought I'd better say that ;-)]

But just go anywhere. Everywhere has its truths, & none of us is obliged to find the same images as everyone else.
