Daft question of the day?

Yes
I haven't done my own printing for some years, ever since the cost of a set of inks for my printer passed £100!

Consequently I have quite a stock of unused paper, still boxed.

The question is 'Does glossy paper have a use by date and/or deteriorate'? I would hate to try to sell it only for somebody to be very unhappy.

No such thing as a daft question....

Two thoughts:-
AFAIK all such papers have coatings as a receiver layer (though perhaps the likes of Baryta don't?)
Therefore, a question may arise as to how you have stored them.

On the face of it, kept in a household environment and unopened/kept in original packaging.....should be okay?

Perhaps the manufacturer would have reliable insight re: dates etc

Thanks for your thoughts on this. They are stored in the room where I use my computer so no extremes of temperature.

I'll see if I can get any info from Epson.

I have used some epson and Kodak paper i got when my Father in Law passed away, had it in the cupboard for best part of 10 yrs now, the package says 'store flat in a cool dry area, there is a batch number but no Use By date, used a sheet two days ago in my epson ET 2815 A4 printer - no probs worked fine for a standard print. I suspect most are fairly stable if stored dry and even temp - its once the ink is into the print layer it will 'age' as normal for photo paper.

Thanks @Rincewind. I'll look at ways to move it on. Cost of posting would negate any value in selling on t'interweb. It might actually cost more than I could reasonably ask for it. If anybody is in the Gloucestershire area I'm happy to give it away if they can collect. Approx 150 7"x5" and the same number of A4.

I suspect Epson will tell you that you need to buy some new paper from them!

I have 'inherited' a load from the father-in-law, and also bought quite a bit in a charity shop. No problems with any of the multiple batches to date.

I've used some that was over fifteen years old and I couldn't see any problems . . .

If stored exposed to light it will degrade (as the prints will also), may also discolor/yellow. But if stored in a dark environment at normal household temps/humidity it should be fine for a very long time.
