Ok so the decision has been made, going for the Nikon D90 , and 300 lens, qustion is what filters should i buy

Well firstly, nice choice ;)

Some folk have a UV filter fitted at all times, for protection purposes.
But it must be a decent one, or you'll just lose image quality....
So don't be tempted by the cheap £4.99 ones from ebay!!!

Personally I don't bother.
A bit of care and a lens hood should do the trick!!!

And I always have a circular polarizer.
If your not sure what one of these are, read this.

At the moment, I only have two lenses, but my cir pol fits them both!!

Next I'll be looking for some Neutral density filters.....

i see , very useful, gonna be shooting wildlife but want to have the neccessary kit in my bag for all types

cheers Andy  i am a complete novice so have a lot to learn, always found the best way is to get stuck in make mistakes and ask a lot of questions, so i will be back :D

Got it, :D now im like a kid, now to sit down for a few hours with a glass of Highland park untill frustration sets in:bonk:

Congrats mate!!

That is def the best way to learn.
As long as you know the basics, and ask lots of questions here, you'll get there.
That's how I learn't :)
