Good evening everybody.
I'm waiting on the delivery of my new D850, which is due to arrive this coming week and as a result I'll be looking to sell my D800.

However, I'm not sure what sort of money it would command on the second hand market. I do know that Wex offered my £560 as part exchange against a D850 from them. Problem is they wanted £2,500 for the new camera. Mine's coming from Panamoz for £1,980 and I still get to sell the D800 to go towards it.

The D800 is in very good condition. It is totally unmarked and in as new condition. I still have the box, body cap, charger and 2 Nikon batteries. I checked the shutter actuations this evening and it read 6,958 so it's still a baby in shutter terms. It also has the latest firmware installed. I'd also be chucking in the 4GB Compact Flash Card and the 64GB Sandix Ultra SD card as the D850 will chew up the SD card for breakfast and doesn't use CF cards.

So, can anybody tell me what sort of money I should be asking for the camera please? Given the Wex offer I'd be looking for something in the region of £600.

In case this is breaking any code of conduct in this forum, this is not a classified ad and I apologise if this appears to be so. I'm just after honest opinions on its value. I'll put it up for sale in the classifieds once I have a better idea of what I should be asking for it.

Many thanks in advance.

There is a price checks part of the classifieds forum for exactly this reason:

Many thanks for that. I was unaware of this particular forum and your assistance has been invaluable to me. :)

i would say around £500- 600 is not a bad price

D810 with low shutter count went for £810 (incl postage) on here recently ! Check history on 'For Sale or Swap' Forum :)

Also checking eBay 'Sold Listings' will give an idea of what actually gets sold and for what price.

As someone who sold his D800e after getting the D850 I can safely say you will be amazed with your new purchase. I think 550 would be a very fair number - although on the bay it may go higher...

Thanks. My thoughts too. Camera Jungle quoted me £472 but then they want to be making a bit out of it themselves so I'd expect it to be low.

Yup. I saw that thread when I followed Rob's advice above. It got a little bit tense for a while. :)

This has a number of D800's on show. Units with 50k plus actuations are showing at £584. There's one with <6k actuations at £645. As mine has all the bit and 6.9K actuations, I think I'll put it up for £625 (negotiate on P&P if necessary) and go from there.
I'll wait until my new camera turns up this week (he says hoping) and then put the D800 up for sale.

Thanks for tall the great advice guys. Really appreciate the efforts. (y)

Thanks Gramps. I'll give that a shot too.

Well the D850 has arrived and although not had much time to play with it yet (GRRRR), the first point and shoot shots out of the camera are very pleasing indeed.
I've just put my D800 up for sale in the classifieds section if anyone is interested at all.
Many thanks for all your good help and advice; it's much appreciated.
