Hi, I'm really interested in getting a cheap flash system that I can use off and on camera. Just one flash to start. I'm guessing a horseshoe solution is best (just read the sticky). Can anyone suggest a decent but affordable solution? I anticipate using it both indoors and outside and I'd like to be able to trigger it without a cord being linked. I'm a complete nub to flash so any help would be great. I'm guessing there are decent cheap third party kits available. Can anyone help me out?

Hi Adam. I use the Meike mk-910 speedlights with my D7000 both on camera and off. Coupled with cheapo triggers they work just fine. But you can also use them off camera via the pop up acting as the commander. They're fully TTL and cost £75ish each.

What about the used market? You could likely get a decent SB-600 for reasonable money. Or look at the Yongnuo (568 is TTL I think) - they get favourable reviews.

As Xray said, if you can, go for a used SB 600. The Nissin Di622 mk2 is quite good for the money too. The Yongnuo YN622n TTL triggers can be had for about £45-50 a set and I've found mine to be very reliable when i've had cause to use them.
