Hi

Can anyone help - my d700 (3 months old - 20k shutter count - new) has recently started random shooting - I need to switch off and then it's fine - any suggestions

saw the same thing on my 3rd party grip and 40D
think the switch is dying on the cheapo grip but not had a chance to investigate properly yet

I expect you are hitting the grips button. It should have a lock, so try and and see if it still happens.
Failing that, the grip is sending false signals. Is it a genuine grip or 3rd party?

Do you leave the grip on when walking and press the button with out knowing your doing it.

I've done this a few times. I've sold my grip now but I seem to remember it had a lock for the shutter for just this purpose.

It's not a genuine grip - its a replica - it doesnt have a grip but I've kept the grip on with out power and I will see if this works next shoot then we know it's a faulty grip

Thanks

The grip takes power from the camera too, so even without batteries in the actual grip it can still work.
