Hello. I have a D500 and just tried using my 50mm 1.8 d lens. It focuses the lens. But I can't take any pictures as I have the Fee error...
I have locked the lens in f22...

The usual suggestions are to check the aperture ring lock is properly engaged with the ring set to f/22 (as it sounds like you've done), check the bayonet has locked, check for damage of the mount or contacts or aperture follower tab, and to clean the contacts:

Do you have other lenses with aperture rings and do they work on your D500? Do you have another compatible Nikon body and does it work with the 50?

Have the same setup on my D500 to test, no problem. It's on f22, locked in and shoots fine. Check the little "red"switch above f4. Just click it one way, try that and then the other way. The only time I'm getting the Fee is when it's not set to f22.

200-500 doesn't tell you much because it's an E lens and this looks like a mechanical aperture coupling problem. If you still have the D7500 or any other Nikon body, try the 50 on it again now and see if it still works. I guess you don't have any other lens with an aperture ring? Without testing another lens that isn't E or G, or testing another body, you won't know if the problem is with the lens or camera.
