d40 on a tether

Nikon's own Camera Control Pro 2 supports tethering with the D40. I'm not certain about Lightroom but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Aperture 3 seems to support the D40x but not the D40. I'm sure there are other possibilities too.

According to Adobe's help pages only the following Nikon cameras are supported:

D3
D3s
D3x
D4
D90
D300
D300s
D700
D800
D800E
D5000
D7000

Sorry, but doesn't include the D40 :(

I know I used Camera Control Pro 2 with my D40 (when I had it) but it's an expensive bit of software. I'm sure there was also some free software that worked too but can't remember the name ... sorry :(

You can shoot tethered directly into Lightroom though, surely?

Only if Lightroom supports tethered mode on that camera. Adobe say it doesn't for the D40 :(

Fair enough. Hardly surprising really. An old, low end Nikon isn't something they'd realistically expect anyone to be shooting tethered with.
