Looking to add/replace one of my D3's with one of the above as a main shooter. D4 appeals massively as natural upgrade from the '3 which is superb. I love the build, speed & simplicity of the D3, and all reviews suggest D4 is the same but more; a proper pro body that I can treat as a bit of a beater.

But, am I missing a financial trick with the 750, which is naturally much cheaper s/h and a fair bit newer? Moving up from D3, I'm looking for better, faster AF, better high ISO performance (6400 would be great), and build that will take typical pro use. Fast writing of card is important, but that's more defined by the card itself anyway.

Thoughts from those who've experienced both, or one of them?

Only D750 here. Best DSLR I have had. But never had anything above to compare with I guess. Prefer it to the D500.

If you want high ISO it is just brilliant. 6400 is a piece of cake. My auto iso is set to 10,000 and never really had any issues shooting that high.

AF is excellent, not as good as the D500 obviously but it's still very good.

Can't really give too many flaws about it. Having had a few Canons, a line of Nikon's, this is the most complete camera I have had.

I tried a D500 for the FPS but came back to the D750. I'm can't really recall anyone in the D750 being disappointed with the camera.

From what you have said D4 would be a better choice. The D750 is no where near as robust, and the buffer isn't great compared to the pro bodies which matters more than card speed.

Go for the D4, if build is important you won't be happy with the D750. If card speed is important then the D4 wins again, plus if card speed is important I'm assuming you're 'machine gunning' in which case the D4 wins again in fps and buffer. Noise handling is pretty much the same, and I can get usable images at 12800 ISO in appalling light with my D750. D750 has better DR.

Is the D4s out of reach?

If I was in your position it would be the D4

I've had both.
I used to shoot Equestrian for profit. D4/D3. Sold them when I packed it up. Got D750 for hobby camera.
Very much missed the dedicated AF-ON button.

D750 now gone.

I have D500 and Fuji X100f.

So in answer to your question D4

Looks like you answer your own question already. The D4 is what you want.
