I own a Nikon D3500 Camera and a ETX 125 Telescope. I purchased the T2 Nikon Adapter and accessories for attachment to the telescope. When I switch to manual mode, I can change my shutter speeds, but I can't change the aperture setting. On my screen appears an F with a line. I properly press the exposure compensation button/aperture button to change the setting, but nothing happens. I get messages on the camera that the lens is not attached, and too dark to take the picture. I've written to Nikon and Meade but have not received a reply from either company. Any help is appreciated.

You normally have to attach the T2 to a lens it’s camera / lens/ T2/ scope

Your telescope has a fixed aperture.

You need to alter exposure by the shutter speed or ISO, that's all you can do.

Sounds like there's a setting you're missing in the camera to tell it you are using a manual lens.

Check the manual.

A simple adapter like this has no way to pass aperture information of any kind to the camera. This is a beginner camera and can only control aperture electronically with a limited range of lenses - it has no mechanical control, and won't work with older D or non-AF lenses other than doing everything manually.

Telescopes don't have an aperture, and even if it did how would your camera be able to control it? You need to put the camera in full manual mode, and if there is a setting available to shoot without a lens turn that on. The camera has no idea that it is attached to a telescope.
