Beginner D3200 Query: Switching between A to M Modes

If I'm in Aperture mode and dial in say -0.7 exposure, when I swap to Manual and shoot at 0.0, it says in the data that the shot was taken at +0.7 and has remembered the exposure comp setting from Aperture. Is it meant to do this? I thought it would just 'forget' the settings when changed to another mode? Seeing as in Manual you can't use exposure compensation like that anyway it seems odd - you have to go back into Aperture to change it.

It's reminding you that you'd set exp comp. In M it'll be 2/3 stop brighter than the shot in AV with the - exp comp.
