Yesterday the wifes D3200 came up with this error "Metering error" so onto Google I went and it seems to be a common problem with various fixes, I have now tried all the fixes and nothing worked, I even resorted to re installing the firmware and still it comes up with the error, it does work in M mode and she only uses M but we are going to RAF Coningsby shortly, is it worth having the camera repaired by Nikon, or just cut our losses and sell it for spares on the bay and buy her a new camera.

Tried different lenses on with the same error, so just bit the bullet and ordered her a new D3300 as she didn't want anything bigger or much different menu wise

Spotted a few posts saying " I just got my Nikon D3200 and I keep getting this message coming up in anything but Manual mode, that prohibits shooting". Some say this happened after the camera was dropped!

Seen those posts myself when lloking for a fix, this one hasn't been dropped or handled roughly, I think its simply got to that age and said enough is enough, it is 3 years old.

A Nikon DSLR should last longer than 3 years especially one that has been well looked after. Maybe a change of brand is required.

I had the D60 and the D80 had them both for many years. Used them both heavily, nearly every day. I sold them both, and last I heard, the D80 was still going strong. I still see the owner of my old D60, still uploading their photos taken with the camera.

I would have expected a DSLR to last a little longer than three years, even an entry level one. But there again anything electrical, can go at any time.
