I have bought a D3000 as a "holiday/everyday" camera leaving my D200 for more professional use.
I am absolutely delighted and bowled over with it but for one small thing. I cannot seem to lock the focus point and am forever moving it during handling.

Am I misssing something here? I know it is an entry level camera but surely the focus point should not move so easily?
Any ideas anyone please?

I believe it is the rear command wheel that can be used to select the appropriate focus point, but only in certain modes.

The lass who shoots with me has a D50 and that's got the same problem. Upon investigation, I've found that locking the focus point on the 50 isn't possible. I know this was a entry level camera but this seems like a major design flaw and I'll be disappointed if Nikon have repeated the fault on the D3000.

dont think you can lock it, its the same with the d60 I have (from which the 3000 and 3100 is derived)

Then again given the d60 only has 3 focus points its probably less of an issue...........
