Hi All, I regularly use a D300 in my studio at work and I shoot around 400 images a day. I shoot tethered to Aperture on a PowerMac via USB, I sync to 3 studio strobes via 1 sync cable and I shoot on batteries (I did use the power cable but this became worn and snapped due to movement so i stick with a Battery Pack and 6 EN-EL3e's now!)

My problem is related to the above previous problem with the power adapter. My Flash Sync Terminal and my Mini USB port are becoming wobbly due to me using conventional cables and moving around a lot, the stress of the cables is bending the ports and this is starting to become a problem as sometimes there is no connection recognised and I have to wiggle the cable to get it to work, im well against taping things as it looks horrible and serves as a short term solution only!

Has anyone had/having this problem? What did you/do you do to overcome it? Is there a screw in flash sync cable as ive noticed thread on the flash sync terminal of the D300 and is there a heavy duty adapter or similar to put a normal USB 2.0 cable in to the camera? My boss won't give into a radio transmitter at this moment in time due to expense and I run two studios so that's 2 active cameras at any one time. Can anyone help or give a semi-pro some good advice, it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Nick, one option (as nikon USB terminals can get pricey) is an eye-fi card, the nikon wifi is approx £549 an eye-fi is around £100, plus an adaptor for the D300- cheapy version!

My D700 usb is also getting a bit temperamental, hoping (?) to get it fixed under warranty, we'll see!

I'm using a D90 w/ eye-fi and at ranges of around 3-4M its perfect, approx 5-10 secs per image, into a folder of your choosing. works for me

Tie a loop and hook it on something on the tripod/camera so that there is sufficient slackness that it isnt actually pulling on the connection...
