I got some of those cheap wireless triggers (1 transmitter, 3 receivers).

I tried them 1st with my D80 (transmitter on the hotshoe, 1 receiver connected to a studio flash via the jack plug included). Worked fine, no problem.

I just tried them with my D300 (similar set up but with two studio flash units) and it won't trigger them.

Then I remembered that I had the same problem when I tried to fire a flash unit via a hotshoe-PC adapter on the hotshoe of the D300. (The cable kept falling out of the D300's PC socket and it was really p***ing me off)

My SB-600 fires fine on the hotshoe of the D300.

Does the PC socket overide the hotshoe unless the flash is dedicated? If so is there a setting buried deep in the menus to force the use of the hotshoe? (I have looked for one). Or is the hotshoe on my D300 faulty?

Before you ask, I have checked that the transmitter and the receivers are set to the same channel. :help:

:bonk:

Scrub this question, I've found the problem.

I have 3 studio flash units. An ancient Jessops PowerFlash PR400 and 2 prehistoric Jessops PowerFlash MD10s. I was firing the PR400 with the D80 and trying to fire the MD10s with the D300.

The PR400 works fine with the triggers but the MD10s don't, it's a voltage thing, I guess. I'd refer to the manual, but it's in Latin:lol:.

All is not lost, the MD10s have slave units built in, so as long as the PR400 is used in the set up, I'm still wireless.

I've also tested the triggers with my SB-600 and they work fine.

I was just about to tell you all of the above.:D:p:clap:
