D2 or D2H upgrade

Hi folks,
just wondering if its worth the upgrade from a D2 to a D2H?
I do a lot of sports so like the D2 but its getting time to move up and on limited buget would the D2H be a good move?

The D2H is only 4mp or so. If you never print at hi res it'll be ok, but it is quite old hat now.
 
Is the H that much of an upgrade?
Wouldn't you be better going for an X or XS?
3x the resolution.
Not that a 4MP camera can't hold it's own for small prints and web use.
 
Wait wait wait. You have a D2? Did you make it yourself? Because Nikon didn't, they went from the D1 series straight to the D2H then onto the D2X and D2XS. Didn't they?

Ooops.

D2x/xs would be better than the D2H as mentioned due to higher resolution and other upgrades such as speed.
 
Haha didnt even notice that!! Maybe he means D200.. In that case no, don't get a D2H.
 
Consider a D2Hs though - much better than the D2H - and faster in many ways than the D2x/xs. 4MP but that will still get you great prints up to around 20 inches - or a half page in newsprint without any problem at all. The D2Hs has a special quality all of it's own - quite different to any other Nikon body - incl the D3.
 
I have a D2H, D3 and D300...there is no doubt that the new bodies produce better images and not just in terms of megapixels but the dynamic range and ISO performance is much better. That said the D2H handles like a dream and is capable of cracking images and a very fast fps....its a pro body and built like a tank...great camera (despite its age).
