NOT an exhortation to self harm/abuse but a celebration of crops which keep on giving - the more you take, the more they give! In the past, we've grown several green crops for this, with spinach and Swiss chard being particularly obliging. This year though, we've concentrated more on beetroot (which is once only, although I might see how well it copes with me pinching a leaf or 2 off the tops of the beets for salads) and carrots (again, once only) but also have a few leguminous options as well as a couple of courgettes. The courgettes are doing quite well, although we did have a couple of fruits that rotted after slugs had a nibble and the wet got in but the stars are (and will be) the sweet peas and runner beans. The flowers just keep coming (I cut 20+ every day - the house has never smelled as sweet!) on the sweet peas and the beans are also a picture at the moment. Nod's law states that they (the beans) will be at their cropping peak at the end of August/beginning of September while we're away... I suppose I can always use the older pods as seed for next year's plants! We've also got loads of Nasturtiums which provide us with incredibly vivid colour in their pots as well as delicious salad brighteners with a punchy pepper flavour from both flowers and leaves. Have to be a bit selective - blackfly and a leaf miner make some less veggie than others!!!

Are you having trouble getting good photos of the Swiss Chard?

(You do know you are in the Talk Basics section?) :)

Ernesto, yes, I did notice, seconds after hitting the Submit Thread button! I RTMed it and it's now been dealt with by the ever vigilant(e!) ModSkwad!
