hi does anyone know if the 1d mk11n has the same or equivalent function as
c-fn-03 flash sync speed in av mode (shutter speed locked at 200th sec)on my
10d which i use for macro with flash in the field ,gives me great hand held shots with good depth of field,i want to be able to use a small aperture with the fastest sync speed of the camera any help i am using a speed light ex550

You can download the manual for the 1d mk11n here

There's no equivalent custom function on the 1DMK2n Paul. Personal Function 04 though sets the maximum and minimum shutter speeds to be used and will probably do the same job? The camera has to be connected to your PC to set Personal Functions via the Canon software.

If you shoot in Manual Mode though, keeping the flash on the ETTL setting, you can set any combination of aperture and shutter speed you like (up to the max flash sync speed) and the flashgun should output the required amount of light no probs. Obviously the smaller the aperture the harder the gun will have to work, but at macro distances you should be fine as long as you start out with fresh batteries.

hi thanks for your replies as you can tell flash i not my forte ,to me this function on the 10d was a great asset i could just pop up the flash with my 105 macro set the app on f16 and take great shots of butterflies etc with a good depth of field the camera automatically set a shutter speed of 1/200 which was ok for hand held shots, basically i dont use flash much and am looking for a quick setup option for fungii ,insects butterflies etc, where the background lighting is unimportant,i just want good exposure on the subject,in the field you dont get a lot of time for tripods and slow exposures, maybe some nice person could recommend a personal customised setting which the camera could hold,so it could be called up when needed.the 1dmk11n is a great camera i am getting used to all the settings and functions ,on the surface it's workings and functions seemed similar to the 10d but as i'am finding this is a step up the ladder in all directions thanks in advance for any help paul
