Hope someone can help me out here (silly question) after shooting in raw and going to process them when they come up on screen there is a blue light on there but when I turn the black slider down it goes is there anyway I can permanent turn blue off ?

i think its the shadow warning in the dark areas not sure as i use pse10 but thats what happens if the shadow areas are too dark, you can turn of the warning clicking on left hand side of the histogram at the top ( if its the same in cs5 as pse10)

Andrew is right it's the shadow clipping alert and there's a red one for highlights. Look at the histogram and you will see 2 small triangles, one to the left and one to the right. Click on each of them to turn the alerts off. I prefer to keep them on so I can see when I have moved the appropriate slider far enough to achieve maximum dynamic range in an image.
