Hi,

I'm trying to follow a tutorial in the June PhotoPlus magazine, which is to add Matte & Frame effect to an image.

So far so good until I try to find the "Window>Effects" It's not an option in my CS5 list under the Window tab

This part of the process is to add a Bevel effect frame.

Any Ideas?

dunno about CS5, but just double click the layer itself and the dialogue box will pop up

At the bottom of your Layers tab on the right you should see fx (in italics) if you click on it there will be a list including bevel and emboss.....double clicking layer does the same

Two ways to Layer Style (you must have a pic open)
If you are starting with a background layer double click on it to make it into a "real" layer.

Layer_Style_A.jpg

then double click on that layer and the Layer Style box will pop up

Layer_Style_C.jpg

here you need to double click on the style required and then in that box adjust to suit

Layer_Style_D.jpg

I find the above way the easier of the two for adding a few styles all at the same time.

OR....
click on the Layers style symbol "FX" at the bottom of the layers palette and choose the style required

Layer_Style_E.jpg

this will take you straight to the chosen style dialogue box

Layer_Style_F.jpg

BTW the paint bucket tool is with the gradient tool, click & hold the gradient tool in the tool bar and paint bucket should pop up

You are welcome, I teach Photoshop so I have these little bits and bobs to hand
