Hi folks,

I'm still using good old windows XP SP3 and I was wondering if it's possible to use CS5 with a dual monitor set up where the photo I'm working on is full screen on my main monitor and I can have all the pallettes/pods/windows/whateveradobewanttocallethemnext and possibly mini-bridge on the second monitor? I've had a look through adobe help but can't find anything.

Cheers
Steve

I have that set up as you describe. It all depends on the graphics card you have in your PC.
Have a look where your monitor is plugged in at the back of your PC and you might see another connection along side it. Any idea of the make and model of graphics card you presently have installed?
That well known auction site is a good place to pick up a card capable of running two monitors cheaply.

As mentioned if your graphics card supports 2 monitors then you can use photoshop in the way you described.
I don't know why but I don't use it the way you described but I do use Bridge on one monitor and photoshop on the other. I also find that 2 monitors is great for lightroom.

thanks guys....i know my graphics card supports two monitors so i'll give it a crack at the weekend.....I just bought lightroom yesterday as adobe had a one day only 50% sale on it so i took advantage.....gotta explore and play with that at the weekend as well

Thanks again for the replys

How do you set Lightroom to display across two monitors?

In answer to the original question...

Window->Arrange->New Window for... and then drag/resize that window onto the second monitor.

Either that or float all the windows and arrange how you like into a new workspace and save that workspace.

One thing that caught me out using two Monitors, I had CS5 open on my smaller monitor and I'd drag the image I was working on across to my larger Monitor.
After I'd finished editing the image I saved and closed it, then closed CS5 which was still open on the smaller monitor.
Next time I tried to open CS5 with just the large monitor turned on I couldn't get it to open.................... that was until phoned my PC Guru.

The program always opens on the Monitor it was closed on, even if that Monitor is turned off, being a bit thick is easy sometimes lol
