Hi all,

This may be a very noobish question but I am quite puzzled. I have a couple of images I want to stick my name on and save them. I've put my name on one of them and saved it but it doesn't want to show up in folder, yet I can still locate and reopen it in Photoshop afterwards. I clicked 'Save As' and saved it in the relevant folder as a jpeg. Have I missed something out that I wouldn't normally need to do if using something like Paintshop Pro 7 or Microsoft Picture Manager?

Do a search on TP for cowasaki's border proggy thingy, works wonders, will put your name and a host of other stuff on your images if you want it to :D

Thats the puppy, works as a script in CS4 so automatically resizes and adds a border to your images and can do it as a batch as well which makes life exceptionally easy.

Borders can be just your name or whatever you want it to be :D

I've got the image perfect, I just can't seem to save it and have it appear in the destined folder

If you just open the original, duplicate, rename and save it without any editing, does it appear in the folder then?

A bit of an odd problem, but if it does show this way, you can no doubt then edit and save it again and it will still show...

Good suggestion so I just tried it....

....still doesn't want to know. Hmm...

Hmmm.... Are you using Windows? If so, try pressing F5 to refresh the folder, especially if it's Win 7 as it has a little glitch where it doesn't always refresh under certain configurations...

Another thing - it probably isn't this, but it happened to my other half last week and she totally panicked thinking she'd lost a lot of Uni work... two folders with the same name in different places?

Yep using Windows Vista. I did think of the refreshing being dodgy but despite numerous refreshes, I still cannot make sense of this.

Definitely the correct folder but unfortunately it wants to play games. On the upside, I did manage to do what I required with my usual program so no further problems until I have a go at Photoshop again :)

its not a jpeg compression setting or something silly is it???

there are many options IIRC in that compression dialogue box!!!

Something doesn't sound right in what you are telling us, I feel you you are missing a step somewhere.

Start from the beginning and tell us in a step by step way, what EXACTLY you are doing.

This will then help the Sherlocks and the Columbos to sort you out.

Be as descriptive as you can.

Yeah I feel the same way although I cannot think of anything I'm obviously missing.

Right, from the start:

File
Open
*select appropriate image*
*It opens*
*Put my name on it*
*Turn attention to bottom right*
Lock All
File
Save As
*Select JPE and enter filename*
Save

Go to folder and it's not there.

Any ideas?

Have you tried saving it in another location such as Desktop to check what is happening?

Yep tried a different location and it's definitely not working. Nothing can find the file except PS but when you try to do anything to this imaginary file it all throws a tantrum..

For example you want to delete the file but can only find it using PS so you open PS, find the file and hit delete, it goes to me 'Recycle Bin on F:\ is corrupted. Do you want to empty the Recycle Bin for this drive?'. It then goes on to say this about every other drive I have too :cuckoo:

I tried what you did and mine works, I suggest you buy a legit copy of CS4..................

Try resetting your photoshop prefrence file as this usally works when Photoshop throws a hissy fit, although it will not help save the present file it should stop it happening again.

Was given to me by a friend. Will ask him if he can shed any light on it.

Just tried this, unfortunately also doesn't seem to have worked :(

Try this for the recycle bin problem, it might just impact other things as well...

1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

2. Type the following command and press ENTER:

rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

3. Close the Command Prompt window.

Windows will then make a completely new Recycle Bin....

Is it the trail version of CS4?
