Cs4 image opening problem

I use cs4 on a MacBook while using a d3.
What I do is upload them into iphoto then export onto the desktop and edit them in Photoshop.
I had this problem a lot more using cs3 but now it's getting really annoying.
It comes up with this message"could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this file type"
I dunno how because it seems to read every other one with the exception on a few.

Is there any way to get it to stop it or is there maybe a new patch?

Any help would be great.

What are you exporting them as?

A Nikon Raw file NEF I think it comes out as.

try and let CS4 import them
