Hi guys

For my uni work I have changed my female subjects to look like dolls. Everything else is great, but I cannot get the flat look to the eyes that dolls have. I know that CS 3 you can sharpen but how do you get a flat matt look to something?

Hope this makes sense

Kind regards

sarah

Google gave me this...
I think it would be incredibly difficult to get the right look without redrawing the eyes completely. Or you could try a bit of both, and blend the original into a redrawn.

I think you may have to do a bit of painting. Try painting white into the whites of the eye. So that there is no character in them Then accentuate the the colour of the eye so that it looks unreal. If you have any dolls around have a look at the eyes and try and reproduce that. I suspect it will take a bit of time and skill.

Photograph some Doll eyes and comp them in.

Or use a sampler sheet like these to grab them from

If you try to paint them in, make sure you don't paint pure white, as you'll need to be able to add the specular highlights to make it look like a curved eyeball and not a flat plate. If you paint pure white, you've got no scope left for the highlights ;)
