If I cross process a C41 film in E6 chemistry and push process it by a stop or two will the resulting slides be darker or lighter?

I don't know for sure but if you push process (longer time) in C41 chemistry, the negative will get darker. My logic therefore dictates that if you develop E6 for longer, it will get lighter.

That's assuming it's the first developer you extend the time for.

Steve.

yes, you're right. i've googled it a bit more now (I guess i should have done that to start with) and they will indeed be lighter. thanks :)

As an aside, I think it's normally recommended that you overexposed C-41 by 1 stop if you're planning on crossprocessing it in E6.

Yes, as I've discovered ... and push processes by anything up to 5 stops!
