Cropping Chaos

Hi please could someone give me advice on the following. A customer is looking me to change a rectangle image into a square image - problems that I’m having is that the image square 16x16 crops in to close or a lot of the image is cut off. Could anyone advise on how I can turn both portrait and landscape crops into square images?

It depends on the images, you may be able to "stretch" or clone parts of the image, or if you have CS4 theres the content-aware scaling. Without seeing the images theres no way to judge what might or might not work.

You can't. You can either loose some image as you have done, or create a new square canvas and have a widescreen effect with space above and below.
