NIMBY's are threatening to force the closure of Croft circuit after a ruling by a "judge" (my ar$$e) upholding complaints from 2 residents who moved next to the circuit 2 years ago (i.e. long after it was there and knowing full well what went on there).

Instead of telling said people to take a jump, said "judge" (aka f-wit), listened to their case (no doubt earning more in a week than most of us in several years) and is now threatening the closure of the facility.

Get your shots from your local circuits soon folks cos we all know what'll happeen next.... "bandwagon" springs to mind.

Google it and read the rubbish for yourselves if you're interested. I'm off to put my head in an oven as I'm sick of this frickin society supposedly named Great Britain.

Oh ****. Oulton will be next I think. THe residents are extremly strict around there. Always complain if they do something out of order!

THis is bloody pathetic. Why?!?! Just why!?!?! ****ing numpetys.

This is just pathetic I can’t even put it to word what Im thinking as I might get sued for slander.

All circuits try hard with regards noise. Most have a noise curfew before and after certain times and if they're in breach of these they get into trouble. Brands Hatch have a few neighbours who chose to move next door, Castle Combe is under very strict noise levels, and it doesn't surprise me about Croft.

reading the facebook group it seems that its the ex-wife of the circuit owner who's suing so its probably not all about the noise.

No it's not about the noise.....There's NIMBY's everywhere nowadays. What sickens me though is it actually gets entertained by the courts to the extent cases are heard. It's an effin domestic, so why should a court precidence be set just cos two people can't talk amicably to each other and work their differences out properly. Bluddy pathetic

Once it gets through the courts every NIMBY near to a race circuit will jump on the ruling using it to their own means and that's it's Great Britain becomes Great Switzerland

What/Who is NIMBY?

This happened to nutts corner a few years ago and all motorsport was actually stopped for a few years, the council fought it and actually won and now motorsport has been returned.

For those who don't know nutts corner race track is beside the international airport and it was an ex-judge who moved nearby the circuit and the airport then complained about the noise.

Its to do with track/test days and not actual race days, alotough they want them reducing down from 50 race days to 40

Croft already has a noise restriction, no sunday morning racing for the local church so Croft helps all it can with locals, its seems that its never enough

Lets hope it stays as its a nice circuit and the only one from Knockhill to Donington that holds decent events

Damn stuff like this depresses me,

lol you gotta learn to smile about it because its going to happen more and more and not just racetracks, as that is the way the uk is going, soon there will be fun police out, tazering anyone who looks like they are enjoying themselves and hauling them off in vans to bere-educated into not enjoying yourself :)

Any family with 700k to burn on legal expenses can afford to move away if the noise is really that bad. The northern echo article makes no mention of whether the family moved there while the circuit was operating so I'd guess that it was. Muppets.

Oh dear... Why is the law in favour of people who move in next to a track? It's been there for nearly 60 years FFS. They must have known the track was there when they bought the house, surely. I can't see how the circuit can survive on 40 days activity a year, there just won't be enough money coming through the door. I hate this country sometimes :bang: :bang: :bang:

others near other circuits may follow though, it could be the start of something here

i feel for Croft on this one when they have done alot to help the locals

That's what worries me. Although it has happened before. Castle Combe had a ridiculously low noise limit slapped on it a couple of years ago after some locals complained, and Thruxton is only allowed 4 meetings a year I think, again due to the locals.

This won't affect big international meetings at places like Brands, Donington and Silverstone, but I attend a lot of clubbies at smaller circuits, and its this that is going to get the chop. The Croft ruling doesn't actually affect race meetings, the problem was with testing and trackdays. However, I'd imagine this is where the vast majority of a circuits make their money. Bloody NIMBY's, they'll probably sell the house and move now.

FFS.....

Don't you just love this bit

Derek and Julia Watson and their daughter, Jill Wilson, all live within about 300 metres of the circuit, in Dalton-on-Tees, and say their enjoyment of their homes has for years been gravely affected by the "loud, intrusive and repetitive noise"[unquote]

They forgot to add at the end of the sentence........"since moving near to tthe circuit which was there umpteen years before they were."

you watch now.

Every NIMBY within earshot of a race circuit will now jump on the bandwagon and use this ruling to force similar venues to close or reduce their income drastically.

A sad day for common sense everywhere..........:bang::thumbsdown:

I've seen a lovely house that just happens to be right next to the M25. I'm moving in next week and then i'm going to ask the government to re-route the motorway as i don't like the noise......................................

(Extract from Autosport artical)>>>>"The residents, who live within 300 metres of the track, are Derek and Julia Watson and their daughter, Jill Wilson - the ex-wife of Jimmy Wilson, whose Croft Classic and Historic Motor Sports company brought motorsport back to the North Yorkshire venue in 1994".

Guess when you read this bit it says it all, imagine everything was OK while they were married.

Seems as though they want to spoil other peoples enjoyment all because of a domestic :cuckoo:, was her pay off not enough????

She didn't have any problems with the noise when she was applying for planning permission to turn her house into a hotel in order to maximise revenue from the circuit for track days and testing sessions.

Maybe somebody should try and rent a house next to her and then start complaining about all the whining and droning that goes on in her house after the engines at Croft have stopped revving! Failing that, perhaps it's time for her to get a few "visits" from drivers and other people who won't be able to enjoy Croft's facilities anymore.
