I'm going to join the 52 this year but as I'm a people and portrait photographer each week I'll be doing portraits and sometimes trying to tie in with the theme.

Nice to see she co-ordinates with the hoover

Nice start

Hiya Cris

Great take on the theme for this week.

Like the setup and lighting. My only bugbear is the 2 socket plug on the wall, which I find a bit distracting.

Is there by any chance your misses can come over to mine to clean up, as I seem to spend too much time here on TP I never get ought done  BTW the misses wouldn't have to come dress for the occasion :D

I look forward to following your 52, will be interesting to see what images you have for each theme with people in them.

Good luck.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Great idea for the theme. Nice to see a portrait among all the 52s.
Nice lighting and posing.
Credit to your misses for getting into the spirit of things.
One of my aims for this 52 is to improve my portrait work - so I'll be watching your thread with interest.
Cheers Patrick

Thanks guys. Will try get week 2 theme new done today.

I couldn't decide about that socket myself, it looks better in the bw conversion but I think in this colour version it might be better cloned out.

Very original take on the theme for this week

I like the processing but prefer the black & white version you posted in Portraits as the bright colours aren't as distracting. I also think it would be improved in both versions by removing the socket.

However the above is just my opinion/me being picky, I do really like the shot.

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate your comments. i think I might try cloning out the socket and see - tiz only a bit of fun but I still want to learn from it.

Wasnt feeling as creative as last week but he's my nice NEW purple BG - not to everyones taste but i'm a big fan of colours...white is boring and over done!

Instead of flat light I wanted some light fall off with this so the softbox was positioned in a way that the hot spot would just miss the subject...didnt quite achieve what i tried but will try and try again!

OUCH!!!! I LOVE this!!!!!

The colour is perfect! I think I could learn a lot from you this year so will be watching your thread closely.

From a novice viewer I have a very slight nit-pick and that is that I would prefer the lighting to reflect slighly more to the right, i.e. to the left shoulder of the model, because it appears a bit of a blob to the left in this image.

Having said that I don't have much expertise regards portraits and hopefully I will learn such by doing this 52. I think I may just learn a thing or two from you .... so will be watching your thread closely.

From your Week 1 post I gather this is your better half posing for the pic. Well done to her for looking so naturally relaxed and looking so beautiful.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Dawn I'm very made up by your kind comments! I agree, it may of been better to have the bg light shining right behind Katie, unfortunately space isn't on my side and when I tried to angle it right behind her it was then spilling onto her. However this is o excuse as I could of made a simple flag to stick to the light o make it more directional.

lol, you know I just had that feeling your Missus was going to appear in this weeks pic

Got to say I'm struggling a bit with mine this week

What a refreshing back ground lovely colour, I am not 100% sure about the lighting but still a nice shot and good take on the theme. Looking forward to 50 more shots of your old lady :D

Ha ha yep I'm a bit short of models at the minute!

This is a thread I plan on watching, I want to get back into portraits and I love that you plan on incorporating portraits into each theme. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Oh and I love the purple background. Not sure I would get away with it as I have 3 boys, lol!

I like the lighting, love the shadow over the left hand side of the models face, nice catchlights in the eyes and the pose is very natural and relaxed. Background colour is unusual and compliments the models blonde hair very well.

I am also very jealous, you have a missus who looks like she enjoys having her photo taken - mine hates it and I enjoy taking portraits and like you I too sadly lack other models. Hmm thought for this weeks entry, wonder if it's too late to get a "new wife that likes having her photo taken" this week, :naughty: but then again that could just be too expensive

well done I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Simon.

Not to bad there Cris ;) Your good lady looks better everytime I see her

Best regards

Thanks again guys. Yes the misses is being very supportive of the cause, she gets quite shy but her determination to help me over rides the shyness!
I've got a few different colour bgs so over the year I'll be doing what I can with them though I certainly don't plan on all the portraits involving studio flash.

Following the themes will be the hard part!

Once again, thanks for the feedback. I definately need all the tip I can get!

Yes I love the purple background  great shot ..nice model ;) nicely exposed pic good lighting ..prob agree that the backlight right behind the model would hae made the shot ...anyway still a great shot

Had fun doing this one....comments very welcome (about the photography not the fugly bloke on the right ha ha!)

struggled getting separation with my dark hair...unfortunately space isnt allowing a back light, managed to get a bit of a rim light but def need to experiment with the black BG and dark hair.

Hi Cris, just looked in on this thread for the 1st time, all 3 photos are superb, I just love the purple background. The themes are certainly well represented. Your week 3 photo I like. I think you have done very well indeed.
