I love cricket - but am a bit confused by photographing the sport - do you just focus on the stumps / batsman fire off three shots every ball and delete any that are not wickets / boundaries? It seems very different from football!!!

(This is a little tongue in cheek advice for taking high quality cricket photos would be welcomed):lol::lol:

I don't think its much different from football really it all depends what you or whoever is wanting. I know we like to get the bails in the air shots or the guy diving to catch a ball etc but they are part of the match just like the guy catching a ball, wicket keeper hitting the stumps, bolwer chucking the ball. You try to capture them all just incase they are part of the story.
I shot a game on Saturday for the club and well it was mainly telling the story of the match, the home team were getting out pretty quick at the begining even their pro was bowled for 8 (2 fours in 1 over) and they just kept falling so it was shots of them walking to the pavilion with the other team celebrating in the background if possible all was saved with an old timer at the crease racking up about 80 runs I think but even he was bowled out and shots of the scoreboard in the backgound seem to work as well.

I know Kippax does Cricket by the bucket load. Have a look at his site http://www.kipax.com/

I know from his FB page he's kinda busy now (as always) but he may be along to give advice anyway.

Here are some I took yesterday....

3rd/4th team cricket on a ground that's only about 50m from my doorstep

I'm a complete novice and didn't have a clue what the hell I was doing, but I reckon these turned out alright -

I focused on the stumps / batsman if I remember.

(poor technique on no. 2!)

Chris, you'll make a massive improvement to the first two images if you crop to landscape in the same ratio and lose most of the sky!
