Hi,
I'm from Corsica but I'm a cricket English team fan and I'll will be in London in two weeks, I've planed to attend to the England-West Indies test match.

Two questions
1/Are spectators allowed to bring large cameras and shoot photos in Lords during a test match ?
2/ I will certainly use a 70-200 (DX) with a x2 converter, which is the best stand /row ?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

I would drop Lords a line and find out ;)

I think I've seen SLRs in the crowd before but it's always worth checking with the ground. Try and get an email from them if they confirm it's OK and take a copy of it with you :)

ive never had no trouble with having a big SLR in the crowd

i shot a one day game with my 300mm

but was not very happy with the pics i needed @ least 500mm for some decent shots

Simmy :Nice pictures (ODI),
Kevin Pietersen on the first one?

and nice shot (for the last one) boundary ? 4? 6?
More seriously what would you think of a 500 mirror lens (non-AF) mounted on a D200 for this kind of events.

Out of interest -

h. It is prohibited for any photograph, video recording, film, sketch, painting or other image produced within the Ground to be used for any commercial purpose, including (without limitation) for any commercial reproduction and distribution, whether as a freestanding image/recording or by application or incorporation of the same to or in any goods or use in connection with the provision of any services.

Does this mean you couldnt use an image on say a website if it wasnot for sale? Ie in a gallery but low res?

It was for my personal photo blog with pictures available in Hires even if they are free, I'm afraid it would be forbidden.
Thanks a lot.

In terms of position in the ground, I'd say as low as possible, and at long off for a right hand batsman. At Lords, this means the stands at the Nursery end, as the pavillion end is for MCC members

the stands at the Nursery end

What do you think of lower Mound stand (there are some seat left for the first day)? It seems perfect with the sun orientation and not to faraway from the pitch (is my 70-200 with or without a converter sufficient ?)

It should be ok, try to get as close to the Edrich Stand as you can.

You will very much need the converter. Cricket grounds are big and you could well be 70 -80m from the batsmen

Do you tell me that Edrich Stand would be better ?

yes, as it you can get closer to the long off position (for a right hand batsman)

But if it's case of a front row seat in the Mound stand as opposed to several rows back in the Edrich stand, I'd take the front row in the Mound stand

I had a look at the ticket office, unfortunately the only left seats are in the upper Edrich stand, I think I will go for the lower mound stand. Any objection ?

I highly appreciate your help, thanks to everybody
