well i was up the local park on sunday and a cricket game was just starting i did take a few shots before moving on, i know football games need some sort of license for certain leagues so was just wondering if it is the same for cricket? if so i will have to find out about the local team to see about if this was a competitive game or not

just edit this is on a proper cricket ground was not just people hitting it around on a field its just a small stand with benches around the other sides

If local village 'league' then do what I did and introduce yourself to the folk in the pavilion...............you might even get offered a cuppa ~ it can be surprisingly cold just hanging around.

Cricket is a very welcoming game! Even if you don't introduce yourself, they probably won't object to you taking photographs but as Brownie says, introduce yourself and you'll find yourself included!

The organisation of cricket is not like football! Professional cricket allows you to drink all day! Indeed, it's encouraged! ... Especially if you're fielding on the boundary

Professinal cricket is licenced.. however I ahve never heard of anything below pro cricket requiering a licence.... ... dont just do it.. thats bad mannerd... let people know who you are and why your doing it..

cricket photogrpahy is the same as watching or playing cricket.. you have to be patient to get the best shots.....

You certainly need to be "certified" [ :p ] for commercial use but as a spectator you could even show up at Lords for the Ashes Test with a DSLR and a long lens and there would be no official objection to the fact that you wanted to take photos.

I was going to make a thread to ask about license systems for cricket but I thought I'd ask on here as I have found this thread now.

Kipax, I know you have a page on your website about Licenses for football but do you have one for cricket?

I do photograph a local Club and intend to carry on photographing them but was just curios to see if there was a license system and how it works?

No because its pretty simple.. only need licence at county level and above and you only get a licence if you can show you will be attending regularly for pro reasons.. you can get photo passes on a match per match basis though... then you need to contact local county board......

the above being true 2 seasons ago.. havent looked into it since.. I cover lancashire and west lancs leagues and lower...
