Yes recorded this last night Phil, it went from 5pm till midnight, only thing is i fell asleep so now I've just had to edit about 3 hours out in Camtasia, lol, plus the intervals, i'm hoping I've done it right, as when i edited it, i wasn't getting any sound, i'm hoping it will be ok in the final edit, I've only just got the Camtasia program the other day, so first time I've edited anything.

Anyway the next few days on Creative Live looks ok :)

The young lady last night wasn't really my cup of tea, but there's some more interesting stuff coming up.

Yeah I watched a bit and didn't like her style. Was worth the price I paid though
The guy right now is much more kinda bloke and doing 'quick location lighting'.
Rick Friedman

Wasn't keen to myself after watching quite a bit of it, i did wonder why she kept on forgetting things, lol

Yes watched some of it, and he looks good, so i'm recording it now :)

Top tip from tonight (I think I've heard it before):

To make a white sky blue, shoot tungsten WB and gel the flash.

Watched the last 2
His laugh and plugging pocket wizards all the time was irretating but some good info

Did anyone else see the high speed sync trick

ISO 800 ? f1.4 1/2500 ?

As above, live tonight and tomorrow, TTL flash from a real master on Creative Live.

The guy's a gent and really knows his stuff.

Re-run all day well worth a look.

I thought it was Radio Poppers they were plugging. Quite good, but the overwhelming message seems to be - AV mode, ETTL, underexpose scene by a stop and increase ETTL flash exposure. The rest seems to be where to position the flashguns.

Pretty good, all the same

2 different photographers...

Finally picked up a tip I've never heard before. Laser pen to help with positioning of OCF, particularly if snooting etc.

Which day was this please Phil ? i've not had chance to see much yet, just recorded them, so will take a look later. I'm guessing you mean positioning for hair lights, and things that need more accuracy :)

Yes, for hairlights etc. I think it was day 2 I've only been watching the rebroadcast this morning, it's looped back to the beginning now.

The highlight is Cody's 'first dance' demo.

But photographically I'm not that enamoured they use a lot of direct bare flash on the demo's, but lots of the sample images are clearly not that. I've seen lots of their other work and I'm generally a fan, but these demo's don't show them at their best.

I haven't watched, so I'm talking generally, not about any specific teacher or whatever...
But in a lot of videos, demos and lighting tutorials I've watched, it's patently obvious that the "teachers" have used different methods or different tools to what they claim to have used - perhaps to make themselves look clever, perhaps to sell equipment, perhaps for some other reason - but in any event, it's deceptive to do that.

I suppose I accept it as I understand what's going on, but you're right Garry it could fool some people.

But surely you shouldn't need to understand what's going on...
I'm sorry, but this is something I feel strongly about, because as I see it the whole purpose of any kind of tutorial, video or similar should be to educate and inform, not to mislead and deceive.

It seems to me that a whole industry, based on smoke and mirrors, self promotion and deception, has grown up around training. Please see this

That Cody looks bored most of the time, as if all this is beneath him, I guess it maybe but not a good way of teaching.

I understand totally Garry, there's some really good stuff on Creative Live but I'm not sure I'd always get the important stuff if I was a newbie.

The best case in point is Sue Bryce - she has a very simple photography technique, the secret to her gorgeous images is the communication with the subject. As a curvy sexy lady who knows exactly how to 'work it' the very subtle direction is the most important part of her 'thing' but I'm not sure how much a newbie would understand that.

We see it here all the time, people ask questions and if you give them the 'hard work' advice, they insist there ought to be a Photoshop action to solve it.

They're fairly regular guys rather than 'teachers'. Mike's a lot more of a self publicist, I don't think Cody sees himself as any sort of teacher.

You need screen capture software like this HERE

think i will wait for someone to upload it on youtube lol. i watched the first hour of it and was a bit bored as they was talking about what ETTL is and how to do optical wireless shooting

think i will wait for someone to upload it on youtube lol.

Good luck with that, lol. i've yet to see any full Creative live webinar on youtube, you get the odd taster, but not the full days webinar.

This^

Given that they make their money from selling previously broadcast content, my guess would be that they police Youtube and even file sharing sites quite strongly.

aint cheap to buy either. think its taking the p a bit. must cost triple if u actualy went there face to face.

And if the first hour is anything to go by then this is not even worth £10 as the first hour explained really basic noob stuff and compared to Mark Wallace's videos, its very poor in terms of getting their point across and communication.

Mark Wallace gets the point across much clearer and faster then these lot from what i have seen so far.

ETTL should be explained in like 20mins max(even thats pushing it) not over an hour lol.

Another good lighting show on creative live now

Yes, interesting that he shot with continuous lights and not flash.
